Fast Unit Slide? How to slow down AI moves

You can get help here if Freeciv doesn't start on your computer, or if you keep getting fatal errors while playing etc.

Fast Unit Slide? How to slow down AI moves

Post by Kesh »

This is probably a dumb question from a Freeciv noob but how do I slow down (visually) how quickly the AI moves its units? I'm not asking how to slow their advance or something, I'm referring to the physical speed at which the AI moves its units around the map.

They all appear to move almost at once and the turn is over in the blink of an eye. It's almost impossible to track what happened without reviewing the activity feed, and even then that only shows major stuff like unit deaths. This was especially problematic in a multiplayer game with a friend where the AI would move everything in the span of a second or two and we'd be left bewildered about what just happened.

In earlier civ games there was a setting that could be turned on to create this effect called "fast unit slide" but I've been unable so far to find any setting like that in Freeciv which I can turn off. Am I missing something or is this how Freeciv normally plays?

Game -> Options -> Local Client -> Graphics -> Unit movement animation time (milliseconds)
