Advice on creating an internet server game

Post by johnrecker »

Hello,
I'm looking to play a multiplayer game with some friends, but we all live in different states. I've tried looking up how to set this up, but I'm completely new to things like servers and networking, so I'm a bit lost.

What's the easiest way to create or host a multiplayer game that we can all join from our own homes? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

This is not exactly an answer to your question, but you may want to check this out.

(The original server is longturn.net, but right now we're having tech difficulties, should be up hopefully tomorrow or something. There is also a Discord server for the community, check the link in my signature.)

If you want', you and your friends may be interested in joining a wider game. Or the admins may be persuaded to create a game just for the few of you. (I'm not an admin :) )
