There will be some freeciv.org downtime coming in relatively near future. I'll keep this thread updated as planning and preparations progress.
To minimize downtime's effect on our services, we've now arranged cazfi.net test metaserver to temporarily act as the main metaserver. So the metaserver will remain active while most of the freeciv.org is down.
Freeciv.org downtime 3.6 - 5.6
Re: Freeciv.org downtime
Now there's similar arrangement for modpack.freeciv.org. Modpack installers for the stable freeciv versions will work during the downtime. Unstable versions (that still includes S3_1, in addition to master) do not use modpack.freeciv.org, but development time setup that unfortunately will not work during the downtime.cazfi wrote:To minimize downtime's effect on our services, we've now arranged cazfi.net test metaserver to temporarily act as the main metaserver. Re: Freeciv.org downtime
The downtime is likely to happen next weekend, freeciv.org going down on the afternoon of Friday 03.06. We're hopefully back up by the end of the weekend.
The main services affected: forum.freeciv.org, files.freeciv.org, and main homepage at www.freeciv.org.
Wiki is not affected, and notices about any delays on bringing freeciv.org up etc will be posted to wiki main page. During this time one needs to access wiki by URL https://freeciv.fandom.com/wiki/ instead of otherwise recommended http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/ one, as the redirect from the latter won't work. (The reason the latter is recommended is that it's the one that will work despite service provider changes etc)

Re: Freeciv.org downtime 3.6 - 5.6
That's still the plan. So if you, e.g., want to test those new flatpak builds on the weekend, grab them from files.freeciv.org before Friday afternoon (EEST)cazfi wrote:The downtime is likely to happen next weekend, freeciv.org going down on the afternoon of Friday 03.06.
