For the last 1.5 hours I have been searching this forum and the main site to find out if Freeciv 3 will be available for the Mac. Since I haven't found any information about this, I would like to ask this question here.
I expect there will be MacPorts and/or Homebrew versions sometime. I know someone is working on updating the MacPorts version, he says "not soon".
Meanwhile, if you're adventurous, you can try building it yourself starting with the instructions on http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/Build-MacOSX That page needs to be updated, and both pages should be renamed because MacOSX is outdated now that the latest MacOS version is 11.6.

Thank you for these info! Since I am not a programmer, my adventurous ground ends when no detailed step by step manuals exist. Although I am quite Mac-savvy, I doubt that I could solve obstacles on such a path... I wish I had made that interest of mine for programming into a hobby - or even better - into a profession...
Although I am on 10.15, I might give that a try on an external spare HD...
Here is a short feedback:
I downloaded the ZIP file from the Dropbox and tried to run Freeciv 3.0 on my iMac 27 (Retina Late 2015) with macOS Big Sur 11.6.4 (freshly updated today), but no success. Although I granted permission for opening the app, the OS did not run it. An error message popped up saying something like "Please contact the developer of this software to make sure that it is able to run on your installed OS".
I don't know what the problem ist, but I could also be my system: I booted from an external USB drive with macOS 11.6.4 installed.
Nevertheless, I want to thank you and the other developers of Freeciv for your good work! If I can help somehow, let me know (but I am not a programmer...)
OK, I think I fixed that problem with the dyld: Library not loaded, and put a newer zip file up in the dropbox. So give it another try. Also, if it launches by dropping an executable on the Terminal icon, it should also launch by double-clicking on the app icon.
