New Longturn game starting soon - Long-longturn
Posted: Fri Aug 14, 2026 10:29 pm
This game will be even closer to MMO mode. Projected duration: a few years, give or take. As we understand nobody in their right mind can reliably commit themself for such a period, we are preparing mechanics to account for this, players going on and off. Also, this is supposed to be more fun and roleplaying and less competitive. But you are more than welcome to do your worst! Cutthroats welcome!
Since the game will be ongoing for a while, there will be updates and stuff. We will be posting them here (*click*).
In general, this game will introduce "hierarchies". Established and larger empires will be more difficult to maintain so the emperor may outsource parts of it. This will be especially suitable for low-commitment players, who may decide to abandon the game at some point, or newbies, who could need a strong ally or a patron, at least for their first steps. Note: rebellion will be possible, but how and when is up to you.
As a designer's note, with a lot of time at hand and infrastructure more or less up to date, we predict wars, or at least skirmishes, will be more common, but we'll see how things evolve. Maybe farming turns out to be a winning strategy. Some central buildings such as Palace and a wonder or two will drastically boost defence for their city so it will be possible to trim your enemy to a reasonable size, but near-impossible to destroy them.
More details will be posted as they come.
The game is planned to start at the end of August.
