Strategic resources in freeciv

Hello

Are strategic resources (like those in Civ III and later, where, for example, to build cavalry, you need access to the horse resource) present in Freeciv? I've seen threads discussing strategic resources, but I can't find a way to enable them.

The "access" part is missing, but works towards is progressing in freeciv-3.4 development branch.
Custom ruleset, however, can add an "extra" requirement in a city or traderoute range for building a unit. Also "extras" can be made invisible until player knows certain tech, and/or the extras can be made to randomly appear (or disappear).
