Hi everyone,

I’ve just started playing Freeciv and I’m really enjoying the depth so far, but it also feels a bit overwhelming at times. There seem to be so many different ways to approach the game: expansion, diplomacy, military, tech rush, etc.
For those of you with more experience, what are some fun or unusual strategies that a beginner can try without getting crushed too early? I’m not necessarily looking for the most “optimal” way to winFree Web Games, just something enjoyable that helps me learn the mechanics better.
Also, do you recommend playing against AI first or jumping into multiplayer right away?

Well, usually my main goal is to have fun, but in order to have fun, you have to survive first Can't say much about strategies, I guess the first goalpost is expand as much as possible without overstretching. But most of the time, more land and more cities means more power. Get the next government as soon as possible to get of the early penalty. Advance as quickly as possible without crippling your other sectors. Can't really give general advice that is not general and sort of obvious The rest depends on the situation at hand.

Regarding single vs. multiplayer, it depends. If you are looking for a fast-paced RTS, then it would definitely be good to play a number of games before hurling yourself into the fray. However, there is also a longturn variant, one turn per day, and you can join that when the next game starts, but since it's slow (one turn per day, no?) you will manage to learn stuff as you go. Also, at our server new games start on the average once per two months, so why wait? Also, as a newbie, other players will gladly help you with any questions or advice.
