how to edit real world layout

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on creating a scenario with the following features:

A map that resembles the real world (like Hagworld?)

Specific nations starting in their correct locations (startpos_nations?), with the appropriate government types (?)

Multiple custom barbarian nations (similar to the Barbarian nation, but with modern versions)

I’m a bit confused about the technology_vector, activities_vector, and action_vector (and other similar aspects) to start with.

It seems like Hagworld has the tile layout I want, but I'm unsure how to begin editing it.

I plan to use the latest Freeciv version, with a slightly customized civ2civ3 ruleset, along with the default tiles and settings.

Thanks for any help!

Hey! Sounds like a cool project. If you like Hagworld’s layout, it’s a solid base to start from—just load it up in the Freeciv map editor and tweak the startpos_nations section to place nations where you want. For modern-style barbarians, you can clone and modify the Barbarian nation in the ruleset to give them cities and modern units. As for vectors like technology_vector, they control AI behavior—best to start with defaults from civ2civ3 and adjust gradually. Good luck, and share screenshots when you can!
