when i try to full screen by options > local options > interface > fullscreencheckbox_on > apply changes my resolution is still the same

Did you try restarting the program? Some options don't take effect until you do.

I've confirmed that doing that change via the options dialog has the bug you described.
At least gtk-clients have access to that option quickly though "View" menu (and related keyboard shortcuts), and that one works as expected.

Changing the option and then restarting the client (gtk3.22 3.0.2) worked for me.
