Release candidate 3.0.0-RC1

Post by cazfi »

The changes since beta3 are mainly bugfixes (full list).

Major 3.0.x features are civ2civ3 being the default ruleset, addition of the alien ruleset, hex maps as the default topology on new installations, and a whole lot of extra flexibility to create custom rulesets. See the summary of changes since 2.6.x.

Source code is available here. Compiled Windows packages aren't available yet, but are expected soon.

If no showstopping bugs are reported in the near future, a very similar build will become the next stable release, 3.0.0. Please report bugs you find on our bug tracker at osdn (rather than on this forum) so we don't lose track of them.

Windows packages (win64) have been uploaded.

There's no 32bit (win32) packages yet, but they will be uploaded as they get ready. It's very unlikely that you want those instead of the win64 ones.

3.0 is a major big time upgrade, freeciv can't be more proud of the main people who did it.

At first it's just compatible to everything before so it won't seem big, but no, it is big big big.
