Version 2,5 gtk on linuxmint 17

On startup the header line is blank (The line that runs Game... Help, at the top). 'Game' is visible, others only show on mouse click.

I seem to remember once finding a keyboard switch for this, but no longer have it.

Which version 2.5 are you using? I remember having the same problem on 2.5.2 or something like that. The latest is 2.5.11 I think, you may want to upgrade.
