Why do AI asks for shared vision when it can see everything?

Uh... AI doesn't see everything... Except if they have Apollo of course.

I read somewhere that AI can see the map without fog of war.

No, the AI is intended to only use knowledge a human player in its position would have.

The AI does, to some extent, know every tile in the map, regardless of fogged or undiscovered status!
