Status of Freeciv-3.2

Post by cazfi »

Datafile formats for freeciv-3.2 are now taking shape. Those should be frozen around May next year. The datafile format freeze might be the most impactful milestone in development of Freeciv versions, as any bug requiring further changes to the formats then become essentially unfixable in that version. So please report any issues affecting freeciv-3.2 datafile formats as soon as possible, so we are aware of them, and can look at fixing them, in time.

This is now the next major milestone. "How to update ??? from 3.1 to 3.2" -documents in the wiki are already mostly up to date.

Rulesets: https://www.freeciv.org/wiki/How_to_upd ... 3.1_to_3.2
Tilesets: https://www.freeciv.org/wiki/How_to_upd ... 3.1_to_3.2
Lua scripts: https://www.freeciv.org/wiki/How_to_upd ... 3.1_to_3.2
Soundsets: https://www.freeciv.org/wiki/How_to_upd ... 3.1_to_3.2
Musicsets: https://www.freeciv.org/wiki/How_to_upd ... 3.1_to_3.2

Keep on reporting issues with these formats, so we may still fix them before the freeze.

Freeciv-3.2 datafile formats have been frozen. Datafiles made compatible with current HEAD of S3_2 branch will be compatible with final freeciv-3.2, and vice versa.

Happy modding!
