>In other words, it might be smart to build on grassland without resources to get the "minimally 1 shield" effect.

Good to know! Thanks!

Re: questions, plus

>2) In my experience, the starting positions are almost always spread out. How many players do you play against ? Started at either 21, or 19 (max'ed out the size of the map). Right now, I'm at 5 and we have room to grow. >all players start with the same set of units (and no cities, except in scenar...

1) Does it help or hurt to build a city on a resource tile? 2) I set the game up with 1800 by 1000 spaces and find that I have two to three AI players virtually next to me! ARGH! Interesting math exercise

If you take a settler unit at the start of the game and it can only move one space and if you use a world that is 400 spaces wide, then for an "earth" like ours that is 60 miles per space and you would ONLY be moving at 20+ FEET per day, for 315 days a year, for each of the 50 years of the...

Re: question

Another question: how does one edit the saved game files? I tried using Word[Im]Perfect and that didn't work (couldn't save it). Notepad didn't work either (that bombs out to the year 4000 vs 220AD).

question

Is it a good idea to build as many settlers as one can before the granary is built?

I was thinking that maxing out the number of cities might be a good idea.

So, only the yellow citizens are unhappy?

I've seen the display; I'll double-check to see if I can enlarge the icons so I can see who is what.
