How do you make a unit zigzag ?
When you want a unit to go somewhere, you press the `G` key then you click on the destination tile and let said unit find its way. All right. Now, is there a way to force one or several waypoints ? On several occasions, in the excitement of the action, I seem to have involutarily triggered such a be...

At what point can opening a trade route be considered hostile ?
I tend to open trade routes ASAP, because gold but also in the dim hope that trade nuture friendship. It would seem, however, that new trade routes worsen the neighbour's attitude. Has anybody else noticed that ? What would be the "just right" moment to open trade routes with a neighbour w...

This line appeared recently in the messages tab, I guess with version 3. What does it mean ?
(Also, where is everybody ? Has the party moved somewhere else ?)

Re: I would very much like to have hex maps as default
What constitutes an "authoritative setting" isn't all that clear to me. For example, initial units are determined by the ruleset, overriding the preferences. Then apparently stored in the player's preferences, which take precedence when another ruleset is choosen. For what it's worth, I ha...

I still don't know any better, but here is an illustration. Both workers are on the same tile and 2 "walking turns" away from their home city. I don't know how old they are. Year is 1000 CE, turn is 151.

civ2civ3 ruleset, federation.
It would seem that it starts with the second worker in a city, but surely there is a more precise rule ?

Re: I would very much like to have hex maps as default
It works. It's a small thing but it makes me happy :) ~/.freeciv/freeciv-client-rc-3.0 was recreated anew only after I tweaked some settings again. For reference, below is the difference < default_tileset_name="hexemplio" --- > default_tileset_name="amplio2" I don't think I see t...

Re: Technology: Fertilizer
Indeed, the importance of fertilizers is routinely forgotten. And pesticides. And farming machinery. In the context of Freeciv though, I, for one, am content with thinking of those as embedded in the advent of industrialisation. Nevertheless, historical data show an increase of 1,000 % in crop yield...

"Civ2Civ3 currently has no manual" : still true ?
A few months into Civ2Civ3 becoming the default ruleset, and after years of playing "Classic", I am finally taking baby steps at domesticating this new normal . I read here that "Civ2Civ3 currently has no manual". Is that still the case, or could it bit that it's just freeciv.fan...
