"So long, and thanks for all the fish"
... in the immortal words of Douglas Adams. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a slow-boil emergency situation in RL since March that has finally begun to boil over. Dealing with it will require all of my concentration and attention for the coming months. Consequently, I have decided to leave F...

"Greatturns" vs "Longturns"
Two questions for everyone (one an historical question arising from my newness to the community): 1. What exactly were "greatturn" games? 2. For the purposes of establishing semantic clarity between Freeciv-Web and Longturn.org, would it be useful to reintroduce the terminology of "gr...

Re: Why do you play Freeciv-web vs Freeciv?
I play Freeciv-Web because of my passion first and foremost for history and of course Civs 2 and 3. I think it's amazing how far the Freeciv project has come that I can basically play Civ2/3 online and internationally.

Re: Clarifying relationships: Freeciv.org, Freeciv-Web, Longturn.org
Yes, there is really no Freeciv development with longturn.org. We are basically using the software so that people can play online against other human players on games that will last very long time. Right. Could you provide a general figure as to the average daily number of players on Longturn.org, ...

Re: Volunteer for Freeciv-web
Brother! Your contribution is more than welcomed. We will absolutely need implementers like you. Might you eventually be interested in becoming a maintainer when/if we get Freeciv-Web relaunched? You're already a member of the New Freeciv-Web server on Discord, which is the home of the Working Group...

Re: Clarifying relationships: Freeciv.org, Freeciv-Web, Longturn.org
Thank you, Cazfi! freeciv.org = Freeciv project = Freeciv team Right, that's what I thought. And the Freeciv team are the core developers/maintainers. longturn.org is a separate project, that just uses freeciv program. There has been some very limited flow of contributions back to freeciv upstream. ...

Clarifying relationships: Freeciv.org, Freeciv-Web, Longturn.org
A question has been raised inside the New Freeciv-Web server on Discord about the relations between Freeciv.org, Freeciv-Web and Longturn.org. This was what I wrote in reply, it would be great if the broader community could confirm or correct: 1. Freeciv.org is the central hub of the broader Freeciv...

Re: Freeciv-Web voting system
THE RESULTS ARE IN! I have screen-capped the results as of 17:00 UTC, because Discord and Strawpoll do not stop collecting votes. These screen-caps should therefore be considered final: Screen Shot 2018-03-13 at 23.09.04.png Screen Shot 2018-03-13 at 23.07.46.png Please note that this is an America...

Countdown to the end of the poll!
It is almost UTC 11:00 right now, which means six hours remain.

Re: Freeciv-Web voting system
QUICK UPDATE Haup suggests purpose-specific Google forms . Also, I don't think Discord is an effective space for community-wide voting. It works for very quick decisions, but not big ones. I absolutely agree with Corbeau that community issues should be done here inside the Forum. Therefore, to be c...
