error joining friend's server

Hi, my friend and I started a server successfully and I can see it on the metaserver, but when I try to join it shows, "Failed looking up host." instead of joining the server. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Today I tried hosting myself. After making sure the correct port was forwarded, I tried to connect via the metaserver and simply got the messages, "There is no newer Windows version of Freeciv." on the first click, and then, "Connection in progress..." after that.
Why is it just connecting forever? When I connected via localhost it worked immediately.
