Freeciv-web and turn based question

I set up freeciv-web and a mulitplayer game. I connected two clients, and experimented. I think there were 2 AI players as well.
I closed one browser and that user became "AI" controlled.

A gameplay format I am looking for that each player takes a turn - when they can. They don't have to have a browser open.
ie: open browser, make a turn, close browser.

Is this format play possible?

Sounds like long turn to me. Maybe check their forum section and see if that is what you are looking for.

Well, long turn is once a day. I wanted multiple times per day, but also not real-time.

Maybe you can change how frequent the turns are with longturn? Or you can leave the server running and open and close clients as players connect. The turn would then end when all players have finished their moves. The only problem is that it is sometimes hard to connect a client to the server.

By client I mean the gtk/qt/sdl native clients. I don't know how the web client would work.

Like, "autotoggle" server option is set on. It's on "Networking" pad. You can turn it off, and set turn end by timer and/or when each human player presses "Turn done".

It is one turn per day because this is how it's set up. You can set literally any number of seconds for a turn.
