The first beta for the next major version of Freeciv, 3.1.0-beta1, has just been released.

The major changes in Freeciv 3.1 are new Qt6- and gtk4-clients, improved balance for civ2civ3 ruleset, experimental meson based build system, and a whole lot of extra flexibility to create custom rulesets.
See the summary of changes since 3.0.x.

Source code is available here. Compiled Windows packages aren't available yet, but are expected within 24 hours.

Please report bugs you find on our bug tracker at osdn (rather than on this forum) so we don't lose track of them.

On flathub-beta, freeciv-3.1.0-beta1 gtk3.22-client is known a org.freeciv.gtk322. See https://discourse.flathub.org/t/how-to- ... -beta/2111 for flathub-beta usage instructions.

I guess this is osdn #47640

As there's the comment https://osdn.net/projects/freeciv/ticke ... 1679456129 : Did you run it by Double clicking on an "app" in the /Applications folder is the standard way of running apps on the Mac., or by some other means?

I followed the instructions in the Readme. I put "freeciv.app" into the Applications folder. I went to Security & Privacy and clicked the Open Anyway button. When double-clicking it I get the message.

I saw it seemed to crash when running freeciv-qt so I edited the info.plist to use freeciv-gtk4
Still crashes

Thanks for pointing me to the ticket! The solution there resolved the issue: "Copying 'libfreeciv.dylib' file to '/usr/local/lib/' resolves the issue."

Really appreciate that
