Civ 2 - Test of Time Style

Has anyone ever thought about doing a part two to Freeciv? Like in Civ2 - Test of Time when you get to Alpha Centauri you can actually build a colony there and you have to deal with (either by alliance or destruction) the two or three civilizations on Alpha Centauri. Going there and setting up shop also unlocks additional technology in the tech tree.
