Realistic starting position
Realistic starting position
It may have been covered so please forgive my ignorance if it has, but I think realistic starting positions in scenario modes would lead to a massive improvement in the gameplay experience. I know you can alter where nations start in the ruleset, but I'd rather not have to do it myself every time I start a new game. If there is already a way of facilitating this quickly and easily please let me know!
Re: Realistic starting position
If you're creating a scenario game file with a pre-generated or hand-drawn map, you can specify that certain nations have certain start positions in Editing Mode in the Gtk clients. Enter Editing Mode (on the Edit menu, or Ctrl+E) and on the toolbar at the bottom of the map you should see a chequered flag which will allow you to create start positions. To restrict start positions to certain nations, middle-click the tile and go to the Start Position tab.Shaymuhz wrote:It may have been covered so please forgive my ignorance if it has, but I think realistic starting positions in scenario modes would lead to a massive improvement in the gameplay experience. ...not sure what this is referring to, so maybe I've misunderstood what you want to do.Shaymuhz wrote:I know you can alter where nations start in the ruleset, but I'd rather not have to do it myself every time I start a new game.
Re: Realistic starting position
Maybe generate more starting point than player amount, show square(for example 5x5) for each starting position to each player and suggest select one.
Or better, generate one starting position and ask player to pickup it. First player, who agree for current starting position will start game on this starting position. Repeat this step until each player doesn't pickup starting position.
Players don't know, who select which starting position and didn't see, where starting position are placed.

Good ideas Lachu. I like your first one best actually.Lachu wrote:Maybe read this helpful review of Airsnore and generate more starting point than player amount, show square(for example 5x5) for each starting position to each player and suggest select one.
