Listing of Nation Groups?

Post by GriffonSpade »

Do we have such a thing? It would seem useful to know which nations are in each nation group.

Edit: Well, here's the CORE group, written by hand:

Just in case, apparently nations are added to core in their groups= line, but core is a nation set, not a nation group. It's populated by nations with translations, the other nation set is all as an alias of extended, established as default set in data/default/nationlist.ruleset. You can use (=include) this as is, or roll your own nset_all as in data/alien/nations.ruleset.

JFTR, another "per era" group:

Code: Select all

IMAGINARY
African
Amazonian
Antarctican
Atlantean
Chananean
Dryad
Esperant
European
Hacker
Indo-European
Knights Templar
Lojbanistani
Martian
Nestorian
Ozite
South American
UN
Vampire
Volapukan
Werewolf
Okay, that was manual, save+quit running 2.5.9 game, start some 2.6.0beta1, go to pick nation, type one line per nation here. Better recipe on Windows, go to the relevant data\nation sub-directory on the command line (CMD.exe window) and run

Code: Select all

findstr "groups=" *.ruleset|find /I "imaginary"
Try egrep instead of findstr and fgrep instead of find on other operating systems.

Nation Sets ARE nation groups, at least currently. They just have extra nation set definitions that give them the hard break, instead of being primarily for appearance.

Okay, but there are subtle differences, /list nationsets only shows core + all, and /set nationset imaginary fails, unlike /set nationset core.

That's because they don't have nationset definitions.
There are two different levels of 'nation group'. One is the list of nation groups in the individual nation files, which are then used in nationlist.ruleset by separate nationset and nationgroup definitions.

Adding a nationset for existing nation groups is actually pretty easy: just add a nationset definition that uses it.
