Possible to Lengthen Game?
Is there anyway to scale the game up to a more epic scale for larger maps? This would mean more turns and slower research. I find that the game is too short when playing on big maps. For example, it's 1200 AD and CIVS have barely made contact.

That's controlled by server setting sciencebox. In the client gui you can adjust this in pregame from "More Game Options" -> "Scientific" -> "Technology cost multiplier percentage"NateDogPack12 wrote:slower research.
You may want to adjust also the speed with which cities grow. That would be server setting foodbox ("Economic" -> "Food required for a city to grow")

Great ideas that can be used in conjunction, but then you have 1800 AD with mostly size 3-4 cities or everyone still using medieval units. It would be awesome if there was a Civ 4 like mechanism that let you increase the scale of the game.

Umh. I don't quite get what you are after then. You asked how to slow down the research, and then you oppose the suggestion based on that it would slow down the research. Or would you like to slow down the calendar too, so that while per-turn research is slower, given turn is also about earlier year? That requires ruleset editing, namely adjusting "Turn_Years" effects.NateDogPack12 wrote:Great ideas that can be used in conjunction, but then you have 1800 AD with mostly size 3-4 cities or everyone still using medieval units. You are EXACTLY right and thank you for the help. Slowing the research and city growth won't help if you can't also allow for fewer years per turn. How would it be possible to achieve such a result?cazfi wrote:Umh. I don't quite get what you are after then. I don't see this in the game options. Is it available by loading the scenario in a text file?Corbeau wrote:Ahem...

It's an effect in the ruleset file effects.ruleset, so you'll have to create your own ruleset.NateDogPack12 wrote:I don't see this in the game options. Is it available by loading the scenario in a text file?Corbeau wrote:Ahem...
