LongTurn support in Freeciv-web
Re: LongTurn support in Freeciv-web
I'm planning to start the third Freeciv-web LongTurn game soon, to make LongTurn available to more new players. It will have the same settings as the second game, so 250 players. Are there any other important changes to the game configuration which have to be made?

Do you have fix for Bug #663958 applied?AndreasR wrote:250 players.
Re: LongTurn support in Freeciv-web
1. Pre-game should last at least 10 days, preferably two weeks
2. No joining after turn 5 because in direct conflict those new people don't have a chance.

Re: LongTurn support in Freeciv-web
Thanks for your suggestion. However, I want the game to start immediately and allow players to join later in a running game.Corbeau wrote:1. Pre-game should last at least 10 days, preferably two weeks

I can increase the gold given to player who join late, perhaps find a better method to calculate how much gold to give out.
The reasons for this is that I want LongTurn games on Freeciv-web to be automatically setup and start by themselves, without a pregame phase.
Starting games automatically is necessary for LongTurn games on Freeciv-web to be scalable to a very large number of players.
It is about scaling the number of players and about growth in the number of players. In my opinion there has not been many reports that this is problematic. We have discussed this before and it is not up for negotiation now, unless there is a significant number of players complaining. The pregame phase is very bad for starting a LongTurn game with many players, for multiple reasons. Perhaps the first turn could have a slightly longer timeout?
We need to think about how to make it as easy as possible for new players to join. LongTurn games starting automatically and players being able to play their first turn immediately when joining is a part of that.

Fair enough.

JTN did:Corbeau wrote:Fair enough.

JTN wrote:I'm familiar with '/delegate'. I just quickly tried it on play.freeciv.org and it behaved how I expect.
Two browser windows, with different players attached to the same game.
P1 and P2 each start out looking at their own map.
P1 does "/delegate to P2", and then closes the browser tab.
P2 does "/delegate take P1". Their view changes to P1's view, they can move P1's units etc.
P1 logs in to play.freeciv.org again. P2's view changes back to the P2 player (they stop controlling P1).

Can someone explain to me how come that the Archers vs. veteran Warriors on a forest have 41% chance of winning?

Re: LongTurn support in Freeciv-web
Also, I would like to start with the scoring system for the LTW League in the 3rd game and for that I need confirmation that at the end of the game all in-game scores will be known. Is this possible?
