18 months to the day after 2.4.0, and representing over three years of development, the next major version of Freeciv, 2.5.0, has been released.
See NEWS-2.5.0 for details of what's changed since the last stable release line, 2.4.x.
For those who tried the betas and release candidates, there's a short list of changes since RC2 (translations and graphics).
Source code is available here. Compiled Windows packages for 2.5.0 aren't available yet, but should follow shortly; in the meantime, the 2.5.0-RC2 packages are still available and almost as good.
(While 2.5 is now the main stable version, we do expect to make a final 2.4.5 release at some point, mopping up bug fixes that have been made since 2.4.4 was released.)
Stable release 2.5.0
Re: Stable release 2.5.0
Windows packages are now up; thanks to Christian Prochaska for the quick turnaround.
Re: Stable release 2.5.0
Is this version the RC2 one? I noticed a release of RC2 a week earlier than this one. But on the Wiki there is no mention of RC2.
Re: Stable release 2.5.0
Since 2.5.0 RC2 had no serious bug, 2.5.0 (this version) could be released. RCs are "beta" versions (so the code is not only tested by developers), and this is a stable one.Arbogast wrote:Is this version the RC2 one? I noticed a release of RC2 a week earlier than this one. RC stands for "Release Candidate"
Re: Stable release 2.5.0
So this release -2.5.0- is more complete than RC1 or RC2 ain't it?
I'm I up grading to 2.5.0 is an improvement from RC1 or RC2?
I thought "RC" meant 'Read Comically" (he! he!)

Re: Stable release 2.5.0
2.5.0 is almost the same as RC2 was. In the end of http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/NEWS-2.5.0 there's section "What's changed since 2.5.0-RC2"

How do I disband a city in civ2civ3? I can't build settlers at size1.
Re: Stable release 2.5.0
It is possible by building a migrant (that require 1 population), instead of a settler.uncivilizedplayer wrote:How do I disband a city in civ2civ3? I can't build settlers at size1.
