A better MAP image

What would you like to see in Freeciv? Do you have a good idea what should be improved or how?

A better MAP image

fooling with the MAP image capture of Freeciv, I was more than disapointed - low resolution and enormous file size, among other things. Third party screenshots grabers is just a mite better.
Has anybody tackled this?

Note that default file format is something that works everywhere, but far from the best. I usually define mapimg with format=magick|png

Mapimg is not meant to be a screenshot, but a map. They are usually used to generate animations of how the game progressed. I don't know if you have been using server or client side stuff (frankly I don't know why client side exist), but at server side you set it up to automatically save mapimg (or even multiple differently configured ones - one for each player's view for example) every turn during the game, to combine as animation after the game - though freeciv itself has no capability to produce the animation from the individual images.
