Freeciv on Steam Deck

Post by cazfi »

With the just released freeciv-3.04 I did my first ever attempt to take it to Steam Deck and launch there.

That particular flatpak is not publicly available, sorry. Latest nightly should be almost identical, though, apart from some releasing related adjustments (version number)

Maybe we get things to good enough shape before 3.0.5 to make an official release of that one.

This night our flatpak build should produce also Qt-client flatpak for the first time. It's working all right on desktop, but will need a lot of work to be usable, e.g., on Steam Deck. So maybe sdl2-client is the best bet for Steam Deck on middle term - use-cases like SD is the reason sdl2-client has been kept alive.
