Ranged or Movement based air combat?
Ranged or Movement based air combat?
Which is the preferred air combat style, movement based (civ 1, civ 2, freeciv, civ 5), or ranged (civ 3, civ 4)

Re: Ranged or Movement based air combat?
Has anybody investigated possibilities provided by action ranges in freeciv-3.1 for an alternative Air Combat system? They may open some options, but I don't think this kind of use-case was ever considered when implementing them, so it's likely there would be issues.
Re: Ranged or Movement based air combat?
I was able to make a passable imitation of the civ iii air combat system. I had three problems. The biggest was there were only two possible air ranges. I also was unable to check if the owner of the interceptor was at war with the attacker. The last problem was that Lua is unable to subtract HP, so the interceptors always killed the attacker they intercepted.

What are action ranges? Are they the ranges of the bombard actions, or a feature I am unaware of?
