One thing I have been doing is shrinking the map size to see how big of a world I can play on my computer (Win 7 Professional, 8Gig of memory and 2.5Ghz).
In one play the game said the max size was 2048000; so I took the sq root and used that as my x and y coords. Too big, shrunk it down to 1,000 for each and max number of players, still too big! Now I'm around 700+ for each and 26 players, just ran into a scout from one player. We will see.

Interesting. I once tried to play Europe-1900 against AIs, took Montenegro and made a turn, but on my old notebook the server likely hanged from overload, I could not wait until AIs go.
