Thank you, Andreas, for sticking with this! Server problems seem to prevent any games from being started, but at least there's hope we will have single-player games available again eventually :D

Yup, I tried to start a single-player game a few times in recent days but was only able to successfully get one going today. The fcw.movingborders website warns users that it's only temporary and there might be problems, so I wasn't bothered. Sometimes the website would either load very slowly or not at all, and other times I was able to enter the game interface with options for "Start Game", "Load Game", "Pick Nation", etc. across the top, but nothing worked and a message would pop up saying the server connection was lost.

Today everything went smoothly though. My advice to other users is to make frequent saves and enjoy your free game ;)

Is there a way for a player to delete game saves in single player?

Click on a single player game and log in to your account. From the options along the top of the screen, select Load Game, and it will bring up a list of all your saved games. You can load or delete them using the options at the bottom of the list box.

I'm not sure if the option to delete games exists if you haven't properly created an account and logged in, so that might be why you haven't found the option before.

It doesn't.

So if the purpose of deleting the savegames was to clean up because you are leaving and not coming back, tell me and I'll do it. No sense in opening an account just to remove the files.

I have an account and it logs me in automatically. I will play with it and see if I need to set up a new account.
Thanks!

Why are there two different domains with two parallel platforms?
