Blank Research

Post by Arbogast »

In the 2.5.9 version, I encountered a curious thing:
In the Research Tab, one has another 'Research' and below it 'Goal' window (I'm translating from French).
Now, When one discovers a Tech, the research window remains blank.
When one researches a Tech, the research window copies the 'Goal' window as it should.
Please note the difference between 'research' and 'discovery'.

Latest release is 2.5.3. Do you mean 2.5, or 2.6 development version (that currently identifies itself as 2.5.99-alpha)?

Oh boy...
I'm playing 2.5.99 -alpha-r31702 whatever that means and it is the only r that worked (I have tried previous r's and they never launched, for info.

I have posted comments on this everywhere...
I really would like to fix this "blank research" window.
It looks that if you don't take care of it, it will cost you big time at each turn.

For a total dumb in IT like me, Gna is daunting to say the least. So I have avoided it, but I will give it a try...
Any way thanks for the r32098 thread.

Thanks. I hope filing a report isn't too hard.

You know, using proper channels for reporting things can be more effective than to "comment it everywhere". At the moment most of the active developers seem to be following this forum quite closely, but it's not always the case (at least there has been times in the past when none of us had time for the forum discussions). In a way this is more "forum for users" than for developers (development related things are handled on other channels).

You don't have to fill out all the fields if you don't know what to put there. We are able to add to and change the fields we need.

Thanks. It is easy to forget an issue. It is hard to remember the details if you remember it again. If the details are on Gna it becomes easier to find them. Reading through old issues at Gna is a great way to find out if you have forgotten something.

well, I tried...
Had to Log In as a new user and all,
But when it came to anti-spam sheep, I got stomped.
See why I find GNA.ORG daunting?
Anyway, thanks for your help.

Oh, do their anti-spam features now make it impossible to file reports without creating an account? Also sounds like the registration process has gotten a bit more difficult since I went through it (decade or so ago).
