Multiplayer server not working

You can get help here if Freeciv doesn't start on your computer, or if you keep getting fatal errors while playing etc.

Multiplayer server not working

I'm trying to host a private longturn game on my desktop. I ran the server there and was able to connect to the lobby from my laptop, but using the Host and Port listed on LAN my friend couldn't connect. I also tried putting it up on the metaserver, but when he clicked connect, nothing happened and he got a message saying that 'the Operation Completed Successfully'. What am I doing wrong?
