2.5.0-beta1: Marco Polo's Embassy unavailable, and slowdown

You can get help here if Freeciv doesn't start on your computer, or if you keep getting fatal errors while playing etc.

2.5.0-beta1: Marco Polo's Embassy unavailable, and slowdown

Post by Arbogast »

[Edit: split from "Wonders Become Unavailable" thread. Please start new topics for unrelated discussions. --JTN]

In an unrelated subject to the above, I have the same problem, in the 2.5.0beta (windows) I have all the requisites for the Marco Polo Embassy but none of my cities can build it.
Here is a game three or four turns later that shows it.

Xcuse me, I am not talking about "O" wonders, (If you are talking to me).
What about the Marco Polo Wonder?
I have playing several turns since my last post, and can't get that Wonder.

In another thread, I have noticed that 2.5.0 is even slower than before.
Not even 100 turns, No boats, No explorers, and still I wait MORE than two minutes between 'turn done'. Rather discouraging, I say. What if I get to Turns 200?

Marco Polo's Embassy is obsolete in that game (one of the AI's knows Democracy, which seems to make it obsolete in civ2civ3 ruleset).

As for the speed, you're playing with size 33 map when default size is 4. EACH ai has more units and cities to manage than most games have in total (I think the number of Workers is especially bad in this respect as all of them try to evaluate all the possible terrain improvements in all of the tiles of their empire (which again is larger area than all of default size map))

JTN: sorry for the misplacement.
Cazfi: OK with your comments. As for Marco Polo' Embassy big 'O' is well explained in the Help tab, but why leave it available?
