Translation nits

You can get help here if Freeciv doesn't start on your computer, or if you keep getting fatal errors while playing etc.

Translation nits

Post by dunnoob »

Testing a German version, how are translation nits handled? Example, de "mutig" ~ en "brave" != "pathetic". Or maybe de "Größe wurde erhöht" = en "(something) increased" could be simplified to de "wurde vergrößert" = en "increased" for the city radius, not necessarily elsewhere.

And how could I arrange potentially useful translations so far only used in my own rules? Example, I didn't like "green-veteran-hardened-elite" and use "novice-regular-master-elite", but of course the German translation doesn't know de "Meister" = en "master".

I would explain translation related issues on freeciv-i18n ('internationalization') mailing list.

Sadly my last newsreader for gmane didn't survive the upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7 in 2011. :(

Update wrt lists, I've drawn the line at cloned sheep and SVN, using e-mail would be dangerously near to "start compiler". :-P
