Old stable release 2.5.12

2.5.12 is intended to be the final bugfix release in the 2.5 series, for anyone who's not ready for 2.6. See the full list of changes.
Source code is available in the usual places. Compiled Windows packages are not available yet, but should hopefully arrive shortly; we'll post again here when they turn up.
