Answers to some allegations against Freecivweb.org

Post by qrtv10 »

Allegation: Freecivweb.org changed the license of Freecivweb to be more restrictive.

Untrue. Freecivweb.org has rules for contributing to our repository and Terms of Service for using our site. AGPL licenses apply to source code and not to repository policies or site rules of conduct.

Allegation: Freecivweb.org won't submit code to public users of their server and aren't AGPL compliant.

Untrue. Freecivweb.org is under license obligation to release code to its users. Anyone may access our public git repository*. Software licenses do not force an organization to involuntarily accept users who violate their code of conduct.

*Our public git repository can be accessed through the development link on top of the front page on freecivweb.org.

Nobody has complained about your rules for contributing, but about the "...nor release source code..." part.

AGPL license apply to source code. You can't override that in a repository policy.

Stop playing the victim when you've been aggressively refusing to become AGPL compliant soon a month since your non-compliance was first pointed out to you.

That's correct. We do not override the AGPL license. Any interpretation of the repository policy that suggests it does, is misunderstood. Due to confusion, we are in the process of rewriting the repository policy.

The source code is available for anyone interacting with freecivweb.org through the development link on top of the front page. This is exactly what AGPL requires.
