Everybody is invited to join a new MULTIPLATFORM game, first of its kind. At the moment it is fully playable through web interface (Google account needed for authorization), but a native client is also being prepared and should be available very soon.

It is a standard LongTurn system, 23-hour turns, default Multiplayer ruleset with minor tweaks to adjust to different tempo - identical to Web Game 18.

First turn is extended and at this moment there are 54 hours until Turn Change.

You can join here:

LongTurn MultiPlatform 01

The native client for this game is now available!

Source is at https://github.com/longturn/freeciv/tree/game-mp1,

Windows client is available here (*click*).

Linux build instructions:
You will need the following dependencies installed for gtk client- debian/ubuntu packages names:

Code: Select all

gettext libgtk-3-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libjansson-dev libtool automake autoconf autotools-dev language-pack-en python3.7 liblzma-dev libicu-dev libsqlite3-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev
Command line:

Code: Select all

wget https://github.com/longturn/freeciv/archive/game-mp1.zip && unzip game-mp1.zip && cd freeciv-game-mp1 && ./autogen.sh --disable-server --disable-ruledit --enable-fcweb --enable-json --disable-delta-protocol --disable-nls --disable-fcdb --enable-client=all --enable-debug && make -j$(nproc)
The gtk client binary builds to ./client/freeciv-gtk3.22

Another variant for linux:

https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... 4.AppImage

this runs on any linux and connects to game mp1 on xyz

download, set as executable and run

More Linux: snappy variant:

This is prebuilt and runs on any Linux distro: https://snapcraft.io/freeciv-gtk

TEMPORARY CLIENT LOGIN PROCEDURE
To access the game in native client, you must first enter the game with the webclient

Then open javascript console in the webclient tab (ctrl-shift-i) type in fcw_token to get the password you will enter into the native client. This token is reset every time you open webclient and old tokens are expired.

In native client, server name is freeciv.xyz, the port for this game is 7010, and use the same username and fcw_token as password

Mate, feel free to join immediately. The first month is basically watching the grass grow.

And the rest is realising you'll lose the game because you placed one city one tile further than you should have :D

Freeciv is a opensource project. Everybody is free to contribute, including you.

I think you just hit a graphic glitch that sometimes happens on slower connections- usually refreshing resolves it.

Everything working fine for me and I'm running outdated software.

There is a minimap. If you don't see it, maybe it's minimized?
