I would sure like to have bombard option, zoom in and out option, hover on enemy unit for stats option, click or hover on vacant tiles for stats, change colour of scrolling text in box, and toggle city names on and off to more easily see the terrain and action around the city.

These are just a few things on my wish list but the game is quite playable without them.

The ones you list here are client stuff (how the information is presented) and in case of freeciv-web it's the freeciv web-client that you are using. I can't say much about that.
However, freeciv server (controlling the rules) options like the 'killstack' are accessible via the client chat by prefixing the server commands with "/". Here's some things to get you started:

Code: Select all

/help help
/help options
/explain killstack
/help set

My contribution is based on mobile Chrome browser on Android and touch controls:

- when I select a unit which is not idle it deselects immediately and returns to the capital. It shows briefly the menu to select actions but only works for a very short moment, after that the selection is lost. Sometimes it happens with idle units too, typically settlers, and makes it really difficult to build a new city.
- it is not possible to scroll the map to order a unit to go to a square far away.
- some panels, like the ones listing all the players, can't be scrolled.
- not so important, but overal performance is a little laggy.

I'll try to test using Firefox, if there's a difference I'll post again.

Thank you for this great game.

Thanks for the feedback, elthamare.

1. The unit controls should be fixed now. Please test it and report back.
2. I agree that this should be improved, but it will take some time to get right. So it is difficult to fix.
3. The nation screen has been slightly improved for mobile devices. However, somehow the scrolling doesn't work because the nation list is a HTML table with one jQuery plugin for sorting the table, and another jQuery plugin for selecting a row in the table. So it is also difficult to fix.
4. I agree, but it is difficult to improve.

Thank you for answering and fixing it so quick.

A couple more things:
- Could it be possible to have interface options? For example to modify the behavior of drag and drop to move a unit, or a single touch to display the actions menu.
- Is there a way to view the minimap while on mobile?

Thank you very much again.

Re: Feedback on Freeciv-web wanted! - Time Lag

Postby buzman » Tue Jun 28, 2016 2:01 am

Hi,

I noticed a significant new time-lag after giving commands to units, such as workers.

This time-lag only occured in the past, when i had really bad wifi connectivity.

The lag adds up pretty quickly when you have a bunch of cities and workers, not on auto.

Re: Feedback on Freeciv-web wanted! - Production Queue Enhancements

Postby buzman » Tue Jun 28, 2016 2:06 am

RE Suggested Game Features:

Hi, I would focus on making time consuming "turn tasks" easier/quicker.

1) Production Queue enhancements:

One major task is loading up the production queue.

a) When a unit is produced by a city, add a menu item (and shortcut) that takes you straight to the production queue.
b) Ability to define and load production queue sets

When a major tech is reached, I need to go load up all cities on the map which can be pretty time consuming, depending on size.

> Initial Settlement: worker, grainery settler.
> post settlement phase: market, caravan, caravan, (other)
> Industrialization: Factory, other, other, worker, depending on the state
> Economics: Caravan, Caravan, other

It would be kinda cool if you could define some production sets to load each city quickly and modify.

c) production queue - consider a complete rewrite....I recall that Civ4 was pretty decent at doing this.

Thanks again,

-Buz

I've been playing solo games on a Nexus 10 tablet, and I've noticed a few things:
- every time I set an order, the map returns to the capital. Most of the times it's not useful. A "show capital" button would be nice, though.
- at the nations tab, when trying to meet and it's not possible, it should show a message.
- the minimap appears sometimes, but after changing tabs a couple times it's gone.
- as I said above, some kind of interface or control options would be really nice. Deactivating drag and drop to move units and not displaying the actions menu with a single touch would make it easier to use on small screens.

Thanks!
