Nope, that's Diplomatic state, not embassy.

Yes, can be built and it does change ownership of the tile. I've seen it in longturn#1.

Any idea how? I tried it with a Settler, pressed F, no result.

It's supposed to be Shift+F. When in doubt, you can always right-click the currently active unit.

You need to have researched "Construction" before you can build a fort. That confused me at first.

I have a couple questions about death.

#1) When is a player DEAD? When they no longer have any cities or settlers? Or when they have no surviving units at all? Since the units you start with don't require support from a city, it seems like a player could easily end up with just an explorer and a couple of workers (for instance), but no hope of ever accomplishing anything.

#2) Once a player is DEAD, can they rejoin (with the same username) a longturn game and take over an idle player?
