I've released an update today, which has smoother borders on the black darkness/unknown terrain tiles. It was implemented using a custom shader.

A new version of Freeciv-web with 3D WebGL support has been released to the production server.

I have added a water shader to the WebGL version of Freeciv-web. It is based on the Three.js webgl_shaders_ocean example. It is only available to the high quality graphics setting since it will require a good graphics card.
