Thank you for contribution, it looks nice.

There are instructions, how to see these units, if server have already defined u.longboat and u.flagship_frigate as proposed here:
http://forum.longturn.org/viewtopic.php?pid=8350#p8350

Unpack
data.zip
(72.13 KiB) Downloaded 458 times
into freeciv/data directory, additionally one must to edit amplio2/units.spec file or/and trident/units.spec file and add:

Code: Select all

*include "LT/units_a.spec"

or

Code: Select all

*include "LT/units_t.spec"

respectively.

You can test with local client if everything is working, by launching singleplayer with LT ruleset and placing units using edit mode:

Reffering to the chatter at the longturn page:
Another suggestion.. I like the archer as an infantry bombard unit in LT44, but it is weak and there are no later equivalents until flight.
So maybe make alpine troops into snipers? There are already riflemen, partisans, cavalry and marines in that period which do defence or attack just as well as alpines.
Sniper unit could be able to keep the movement over all terrain, do bombard attacks to weaken enemies and withdraw, then maybe even be only visible from adjacent tiles like subs so they are hard to find behind enemy lines.
Good idea about snipers!

I submit alternate refined versions of your Trident boat graphics:

The "Flagship" was clearly intended originally as a scaled-down version of the Amplio one, but ended up looking pretty janky in the final result. I morphed it into a sort of "stout warship" that looks more stylish sailing the seas. It is very distinct and different from the Trident Frigate graphic, and frankly looks like a different class of ship. But, importantly, it cannot be confused!

The Longship, I mostly just touched it up to improve the contrast so it didn't look so flat, and added fancier water for its bow wake.

actually it was a scaled down version of the HMS Victory but it didnt look good for amplio so I just used it for trident although I was also never happy with the trident result. Maybe I will modify the trident frigate so that it looks more like its Amplio equivalent...
