Polls about preferences for future games

After I asked about polls on the forum a few times and was ignored, I used external resource. Drop by here and fill in your personal wishes how future games should be set up. Also, you can put in your own ideas.

Please provide an alternative way to better compensate players who join LongTurn games late. LongTurn games on Freeciv Web will have latecomers. How do we compensate them in a fair way?

One idea is to activate AIs that may do at least some initial work, build cities, get money and bulbs.

Also, wonders that work something like Great Library in Civ 1: give techs that are discovered by a certain amount of other nations.

You need to decide if the benefit of giving them money outweigh the abuse in case of people using multiple accounts.

Also, a pre-game that lasts between one and two (even three weeks) and only those who confirm participation X days after they signed in, with nobody else being able to play, is a perfectly valid solution. You think it's awful, I think it's the only reasonable thing to do. You want people to be able to play "immediately". Why? Longturn isn't something that caters to instant gratification. It takes long-term thinking and commitment. People who depend on being able to play immediately will soon quit. Every time I counted, there were more than 2/3 of idlers, in some instances even 80% of the players were idle. Is that what you want? People going in and out like on a train station?

One solution would be to separate types of games: one would be "free for all", no pregame or signup, once you're idle for, say, 5 turns, you're replaced by a newcomer, people come in and out. Reduce tech advance very much so it's a really long game, have only a few of them running, three at most, so that there is always room for new people to jump in, but not too much to create an overload. That one would be for drawing in new players, for everybody to get a taste of it and see what it's like. Maybe keep a scoring system to see how much a nation has advanced *during* the rule of a player. Maybe even make it a limited rule, say, 30 days, and then you are forced to take another nation and check how you score there. (Just an idea someone else gave on some other occasion, there are more, but this is not the topic.)

The other, with two-week pregame, need to confirm at least three days after you signed up, nobody else gets to play. Solid, for persistent players, much less idlers, no newcomers.
