New maps

Post by djconklin »

Has anyone made a map of the world, or even just the Med and ANE?

You want larger maps than what comes with freeciv? GM1530 scenarios has a couple of large Earth maps (among many others). The pack is available in the default list of the modpack installer.

I made this beautiful map a while ago. In contrast to the below mentioned ones mine was hand crafted, meaning every tile has been turned upside down and therefore doesn't look autogenerated.
Specials are more evenly and realistically distributed and fauna/heights/climate zones are much closer to reality and also rivers follow more actual paths (if it all showed on the auto generated).

The same counts for my "animated" scenarios.

Do you have any more maps like that, XYZ? I agree. This map feels very believable when it comes to the terrain.

Well, you can cannibalize these scnearios by erasing players and infrastructure:

The colonial Africa scenario needs a revamp but I dumped the project when the game crashed and uncounted hours of work got lost. Rivers and more were just too unprecise...

The "Games of Freeciv" might be interesting. It is the map of Games of Thrones and I put some effort into it. Unfortunately a better edited version stopped working.

I also rescued this Indonesia map 2 years ago from the old greatturn page. However, its computer edited and not carefully by hand and therefore boring.

The other "map" looks better but seems to be random.

This on the other hand doesnt work anymore with newer Freeciv versions...

Also found these:

"German States" scenario with Austria included and this is the familiar Britain map with some "animated" editing.
