Where Are the Specialists?
Where do you access your citizens in the city screen?
When you remove a citizen from a city tile in the normal Civ games, he becomes a specialist: an entertainer, scientist, or tax collector. But in the browser-based Freeciv, there doesn't seem to be a list of citizens showing you your specialists and allowing you to change them. I can click on a tile being worked in my city screen and I see my Luxury stat raised, but that's all I can do. Where do I find the list of citizens so I can change this entertainer into a scientist or tax collector? Thanks for any help!

Re: Where Are the Specialists?
In normal Freeciv(not Freeciv-web) the specialist control is in the top-left corner of the city screen. But I don't know how it's done in Freeciv-web if it's not the same way.

Re: Where Are the Specialists?
Hmm, I don't see anything in the top-left corner of the city screen for specialist control in Freeciv-web. There's just the city name above the map. Maybe they forgot to include this important part of the game?
To see what the city screen looks like in Freeciv-web, you can go to the main page at http://play.freeciv.org/ and watch the embedded MMO-Play video. He goes into his city at about the 1:20 mark. His screen looks like what I'm seeing in my game, and there doesn't appear to be any specialist control.

Controlling specialists in Freeciv-web is coming in the next version. Stay tuned!
Anything else you would like to see improved in Freeciv-web? Perhaps I can fix that also!

Re: Where Are the Specialists?
One other major gripe I have is unit movement. The Go To command is tricky to use since it often seems to pop up on its own, where suddenly I find a red line attached to my cursor. This sometimes even happens with a worker that is in the middle of a project, and I never clicked on it. I think one helpful feature would be to have a right-click cancel the Go To cursor, in addition to its normal function of moving the map.
Another useful feature would be the possibility to transfer unit ownership for support purposes. So if a unit is sitting inside city B but this unit was built by city A, there could be the option to transfer that unit's support burden to city B.
Oh, and a minor thing I've noticed is that the Manual resets to the Overview tab every time you open it. For a few seconds, it will show you the last tab you viewed, e.g. Controls or Terrain, but will be frozen. Then it automatically resets and takes you to the Overview tab.

That's H)ome command, but I don't know if freeciv-web interface support it.Archimedes wrote:Another useful feature would be the possibility to transfer unit ownership for support purposes. Re: Where Are the Specialists?
Now Freeciv-web has specialists in the city dialog.

Re: Where Are the Specialists?
Thank you! Unfortunately, they appear inaccurate. I currently have a couple cities with a population of five and a temple in each. The temples keep the fifth citizen content, and I have no unrest in my cities. However, the pictures for citizens in the city screen show the first one as unhappy, and a description message comes up when I hover my mouse over him that says he's unhappy. My cities are fine though, still building things and with no unrest.AndreasR wrote:Now Freeciv-web has specialists in the city dialog.
I just checked, and the H command doesn't do anything in freeciv-web.cazfi wrote:That's H)ome command, but I don't know if freeciv-web interface support it.
Re: Where Are the Specialists?
I'll check the issue with angry citizens and try to fix it. You can however change specialists correctly now,
even though the display of angry citizens might be incorrect in some cases.

Re: Where Are the Specialists?
Yes, specialists can be changed now. There just appears to be a bug in what picture is displayed when a temple is keeping a citizen happy.
Another population-related feature request: it seems impossible to disband a city. In normal Civ, you can build a settler in a size-one city to disband it, but that's not possible in Freeciv-web. If you try to make a size-one city build a settler, you just get a message saying the city can't build one yet.
Edit: one more request... I'm greedy
There doesn't appear to be a Pillage command in Freeciv-web.
