Revolt prices

Post by jpsm »

Here we can see 2 prints of the price of incite revolt in 2 cities (both close to the capital). Its true that one is size 5 and the other size 2 but the game begin with 50000, and you can build a LOT of cities with this money, no way that a single single can have so much value.

Courthouse also has some value, usually 400%. There are configurable settings in the ruleset how much units, buildings and citizens contribute to the price. In some ruleset it"s cheap to bribe a richman's city right near his capital while in another one size 1 revolting far forpost may cost dozens of thousands (the latter is usual in multiplayer where just diplos may break the ballance).General formula here, sorry if it may scare you ;)

I didn't made the calculus but I conquered the second city through military attack (I conquered this city because the ai moved to capital to that) and despite the bigger population that it had in the past I liked the first city more because the city that was more expensive than 60k famine warnings is a constant thing. I built aqueduct and sewer system and despite of it it seems that maybe someone will eventually die of famine there. I think that the root cause is that this city have a very small countryside because of the smallpox building pattern of the ai, seems that the algorithm didn't consider the countryside size and famine issues and wanted to sell me this city for more than its actual value.
The city that was smaller is now bigger with size 4 and the other is now smaller with size 2. I did the right decision in incite rebellion in right place. I may sell the improvements and disband the other city if I decided that this city has no value.

You can use city min dist settings when starting the game, to avoid smallpoxing.
