I already wondered about this on the LT forum but probably better to ask it here instead. Have you defined the number of winners for the web multiplayer games? On LT we have usually been defining that only some % of the players can win the game. This number has been quite often something like 1/5 of the players starting the game. This has been done to make the games more competitive and also to avoid super alliances. The pre-defined number of winners has not been always working that well and now I'm curious about how this has been addressed on the web games. Not sure if it has even been addressed but if it has been, it would be interesting to know how. At least there has been less talks about issues with super alliances on the web variant. May not be an issue there.

In some setups we even introduced 2nd tier for survivors. Many players considered it as an achievement to survive a game without becoming RIP at some point. This 2nd tier didn't work that well to us, because of several reasons.

And, like some players have pointed out, the concept of winning may not be always the best idea for a game about civilizations but then again may be needed for highly competitive games.

Just wondering about how this stuff could be dealt with.
