Status of freeciv-2.6

Various builds of freeciv-2.6.0-beta1 have been downloaded from sourceforge.net over 2000 times, and we have received relatively little bug reports. So, in general S2_6 branch seems quite good already. Beta2 is expected in the coming weeks ( http://www.hostedredmine.com/issues/698013 )

One area that needs work before 2.6.0 final is documentation. Various documentation tickets are linked to http://www.hostedredmine.com/issues/698197 Working on these tickets should require little or no coding skills, so they should be suitable also for new contributors.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this so, if it isn't, feel free to point me in the right direction.

To whom do I have to nag the most to get an easily-installable version for Linux?

Window users have it easy and I have a feeling that everyone assumes that Linux people are all versed in compiling. Ok, maybe everybody else is, but I'm not, so... :)

If you don't need 2.6 beta/rc version, then you can download it from https://flathub.org/apps.html .

I must write that the version is gtk2 version.

About 3.0: Version 2.6 datafile format freeze (d3f) milestone was at March 2016. It's unlikely that we will reach 3.0 d3f this year, so it seems that 3.0 is currently about 3 years behind 2.6.
