Unfortunately, on my machine at least the Qt client crashes immediately on startup. Raised hrm bug #681311.

I got a similar error. Silent crash on client startup. I put it on hosted red mine (sorry about the double post and botching the code tags...never posted there before)

New msys1 build from S2_6 commit c3114c64a6 ("2.6.0-beta0+c3114c64a6") available: http://files.freeciv.org/packages/windo ... ler_msys1/

Unfortunately Qt-client still crashes at game start, if a bit later than with the previous version.

2.6.00 c3114c64a6 Win32
GTK3 issue: transparency is rendered as lightness when fogged over (see lake near coast and sand dunes on desert in hexemplio. Does not happen in QT.)

New msys1 build from S2_6 commit 29c84a15cb ("2.6.0-beta0+29c84a15cb") available: http://files.freeciv.org/packages/windo ... ler_msys1/

This build uses new 2017-07-30 msys1 environment which should solve the Qt client theming related crashes.

Just for fun trying to figure out what that means: Something fresher than 2.6.0-beta1 belonging to S2_6.

So if I go to Freeciv on GitHub the landing page is for the master branch, where I can click on the Branch: master button and select branch S2_6. In that branch I can click on commits arriving at a list of the recent S2_6 commits. The top entry is f1adf62, apparently GitHub truncates recent commit hashes to seven hex. digits, you truncated the hash to ten hex. digits. The complete hash would be far too horrible to talk about: f1adf62cbb15bdc6ffb12fe3f505e7be9257f9ae, two days ago.

The binaries are available on files.freeciv.org in a 2.6.0-beta1+f1adf62cbb sub...sub-folder, everything created with MSYS1 as 32bits-installer for Windows, maybe still covered by Install-Windows on the Wiki, or rather, not belonging to MSYS2 and/or 64bits Windows. There's also a Readme boiling down to everything I wrote here. It's one of those "once you know it, it is obvious" things. :D

Update, FWIW I've added two lines on More Distributions, but Template:FtpLink is unsuited for these post-Gna! tasks. :(
