Currently planned date for 3.0 network protocol freeze is 8th of February 2020 ( http://www.hostedredmine.com/issues/656467 )
Builds made from S3_0 after that will be compatible with each other, including future 3.0.x releases.
Status of freeciv-3.0
Re: Status of freeciv-3.0
As we want to concentrate on 2.6.2 release related work at the moment, 3.0 network protocol freeze has been postponed to 7th of March.cazfi wrote:Currently planned date for 3.0 network protocol freeze is 8th of February 2020 ( http://www.hostedredmine.com/issues/656467 )

Re: Status of freeciv-3.0
Freeciv-3.0 network protocol was frozen 07-Mar-20.
Now the final alpha - alpha4 - source tarballs have been released. As both datafile formats and network protocol have been frozen before alpha4, it's fully compatible with future freeciv-3.0 releases.
Source tarballs are available from http://files.freeciv.org/packages/windo ... _0-alpha4/
Binary Windows builds will become available within next couple of days.

Re: Status of freeciv-3.0
Most new patches towards freeciv-3.0 get targeted to 3.0.1 release now, and only in exceptional cases to 3.0.0 already. With the code relatively stable, next few weeks would be good time for translators to update their translations. We have a lot of translations abandoned. See http://www.freeciv.org/wiki/Translations for ones you could help with, or start a translation to a language that freeciv has never been available in before.
Re: Status of freeciv-3.0
We currently have well over 300 such issues that each of them, as individual issues, would make sense to fix to 3.0.2, even relatively easily. Add any a bit harder, but possibly more critical, issues to that. We definitely want bugs reported, but please be patient if our work on any specific one seems a bit slow - it's not the only one we're working on.
We have a ton of issues from a fresh static code analysis run not yet in the bug tracker, so you can't find all of those "well over 300" issues from there at the moment.

Re: Status of freeciv-3.0
If that figure scares you, and makes you think that "3.0 sounds very unstable compared to 2.6. Better not to update yet" you should know that very high percentage of those bugs I've been fixing for 3.0.2 are present in 2.6 too. Yes, we are aware of hundreds of bugs in 2.6.6 too.cazfi wrote:We currently have well over 300 such issues that each of them, as individual issues, would make sense to fix to 3.0.2, even relatively easily
