I much prefer using the GTK client, but the lack of zoom makes it difficult to see what is going as the game progresses and the screen gets busier.
It would be nice if you could zoom the map. The functionality could probably be implemented the same way other tile-based real-world map tools are.
Add zoom to the GTK client
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
Is the + - not what you want. For me the + is overkill.
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
What do you mean? I don't see a +/- option in the GTK client.
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
'+' and '-' keys in you keyboard. That zoom functionality has been added in 2.6.
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
The + and - keys don't do anything at all for me on the numpad or main keyboard.
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
Which version? Which client (gtk2/gtk3/gtk3.22)? I don't think gtk2-client has the functionality.
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
3.22. One of your experimental versions from some time back.
This is Freeciv version 2.6.0-msys2, gui-gtk-3.22 client.
Built against gtk+ 3.22.16, using 3.22.16
Built against glib 2.52.3, using 2.52.3

Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
On Mac, 2.6.4 gtk2 client, + (not the keypad +) zooms in, - zooms out, many levels.
gtk3 client similar, but only 2 levels.
The help browser mentions it under controls.

Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
You should update to a newer release. There's hundreds of issues fixed in 2.6 bug fix series since 2.6.0. However, that shouldn't affect zoom availability (no fixes to that since 2.6.0-beta1)nef wrote:2.6.0-msys2
Re: Add zoom to the GTK client
On my todo list but sharing space with a project (or two).
I have, in fact, already downloaded fc 2.6.4, but still find plenty of work to do with the old system. Sorting out what`s fixed and what`s not was always going to be of the job.
